Range & product design management
I work across a wide range of products to cater to collections, launches and generate market and media attention. I design and develop products that together can be speakers for a campaign, a story, or an experience we want to immerge the customer with. On the other side, when looking into design management, it is an powerful extension of my user centric approach : anchored in the understanding of behaviors, trends, … I envision portfolio and generation planning. Ultimately, its power allows to reach out to many more customers in values, prices and functions.
Life centric innovation
This is a fundamental approach in my design and design management. What passionate me is this intimate connection we create from real life to objects we design, applying a deep understanding of users’ needs, frustrations and aspirations. What a thrill being able to capture that energy and convert it into solutions that are desirable and meaningful ! I have also learned how to navigate with such challenge and ambition : involving different stakeholders ( specialists, decision makers ), synthesizing the approach and goal as a facilitation tool to the decision process.
Innovation : a difficult word in our world, subject to a lot of different interpretations. For me, innovation is intimately related to use centric where technology is an enabler and amplifier. Mapping the consumer journey is a great start to uncover meaningful solutions. What is also critical to success is to build an innovation strategy and roadmap tailored to the brand to allow innovation to land and anchor into the organization.
Creative & product development processes
Rather than actor, I believe in designer being a fine observer, absorbing consumers behaviors, habits, ... I apply this on my own work and my teaching, by removing ourselves from the equation, and put ourselves into users’ shoes. Serving the many people, what a great motivation ! In-home visits and in-depth interviews are invaluable to uncover ingredients to meaningful solutions. But rather than a lengthily research feeding into the next phase, I believe in shorter loops of research and creative exploration feeding into each other. In that sense, an ongoing focus group session can turn into a great audio live stream feeding brainstorming and conceptualization session.
I am a problem solver. From insights, macro trends analysis, build problem statements to steer the exploration and ideation. Meanwhile, solving needs only matters if it can become real. Across projects and companies I worked with, I have built up a vast understanding of manufacturing processes, across wide range of materials, navigating through product limitations and requirements to maximize the design intent.
Painting a story and telling it in order to convince and build commitment across stakeholders, teams, departments. In my way of working, it is also a powerful resource to document a process, and generate transparent communication internally to build commitment, across department for branding and media purposes. Through my experiences in corporate and agency, I have gained extensive know how to articulate design presentation in order to pitch and convince, as well as to amplify messages across organizations and medias.
